Leader's German Russian Cultural Festival
Despite the intermittent showers, Leader and area residents armed with umbrellas lined the Streets to watch the Annual “Wild West Days Parade”.Close to 30 entries including floats and the ever popular horses participated in the morning parade. Then a new event kicked off in the downtown core,Leader’s First Annual Scooter races. The Wild West Days activities also saw local Town Councilors and other brave targets sit in the Dunk Tank seat in Lions Park.
As the weekend crowds lined up outside of the Leader Friendship Centre, their dedication to the community was evident and so was their hunger for a sweet German pastry, called a “Grebble” or perhaps better known as “Elephant Ears.”The “Grebble” was just one of the many highlights of the Bi-annual German Russian Cultural Festival in Leader.Over the years, the Festival has attracted visitors and guest speakers from across North America and Europe and this year was no exception.
