As the Southwest Cultural Development Committee awaits word on grant funding from the Federal Government for restoration for the Lyric Theatre, an architect firm has been brought in the assess the building and overall costs for the project. If all goes according to plan, restoration work would begin on the Lyric later this year. 2012 marks the Centennial of the Lyric Theatre in Swift Current.

Gwen Uher, President of the Southwest Cultural Development Committee indicates the extent of the work on the building will depend on the amount of funding received through the Federal grant. The group has applied for a total of $500 000 and is close to matching this amount through local fundraising.
