Breaking News: Province of Saskatchewan Passes Cell Phone Legislation

As of January 1, 2010 anyone caught texting or talking on a cell phone while driving will pay a fine in Saskatchewan. The third and final reading of the ban was presented at the Saskatchewan Legislature Today. The new law will prohibit all drivers from using hand held cell phones to talk, text, email or surf the web while driving.

As of January 1, 2010 fines for anyone caught using a hand held cell phone while driving will face a fine of $280.00, which includes a surcharge of $60.00 and four demerit points under the Safe Drive Recognition and Driver Improvement Program.
