The deep freeze type temperatures which enveloped most of the Province this week had residents wearing extra layers of clothing and cranking up the thermostat. According to SaskEnergy, a new record of 1.13 petajoules was recorded on Wednesday breaking the old record of natural gas consumption of 1.12 set on January 27, 2004.

Meanwhile, SaskPower reported a record use of electricity on Wednesday with a total of 3265 megawatts.
