Cypress Health Region Unveils Annual Budget

The Cypress Regional Health Board approved a $98.8 million balanced budget yesterday. That's a 4.33% increase over last year's. Contributing to the increase is additional funding for primary health care sites in Maple Creek and Eastend and substance abuse programming. It currently costs $270 000 a day to operate health care in the region.

The Health Region's Chief Financial Officer Ed Harding says keeping the budget balanced is always tough. Escalating costs in health care, he says, will present a challenge when it comes to staying on target with budget projections.
