Work crews were busy on Tuesday as the demolition began on the old power plant site on 4th Avenue N.E. in Swift Current. The building was initially in the hands of Great Plains College to transform the old facility into a Power Engineering lab for its students; however those plans changed and the building has since been targeted for demolition.

City officials state the land where the power plant is being demolished has been offered to DW Wallace Construction for the same per acre price as the old Hospital land. New multi-unit family dwellings are on the construction horizon for this area of 4th Avenue N.E. in the coming monthes.
