Swift Current Mayor and Council approved the recommendation made at Monday's Council Meeting to hire GENIVAR for design and construction services of a new bridge at the Chinook Golf Course at a cost of $65 015. In coming weeks the City's Director of Recreation and Parks will return to Council with another recommendation for the actual bridge construction which could ring in around the $200 000 mark; covering a proper structure to accommodate golfers walking, using carts and maintenance staff vehicles. The need for a new bridge near the #12 tee box has been discussed for a few years following the lack of safety offered by the floating bridge used in previous golf seasons.

The design is expected to be completed in the coming monthes with construction of the new bridge completed in time for the 2013 season at the Chinook Golf Course, pending Council's approval.
