RCMP Warn Public of Tax Scam

It's tax season and scam artists are now becoming a part of the season. Saskatchewan Police Agencies are warning the public about a scam appearing in e-mail boxes throughout the Province. Various individuals have reported emails received advising them they are eligible to receive a refund from Canadian Revenue Agency. They are asked to click on the attached form or other links within the body of the email. The form requests personal information such as name, Social Insurance Number and date of birth be provided so you can receive a refund. The link appears legitimate as they have copied information from the actual CRA website. RCMP state the Canada Revenue Agency will never request personal information of any kind from a taxpayer by email.

Instances such as this email scam can lead to identity fraud if you release your personal information to the wrong individuals.
