Saskatchewan Crop Producers Hope For a Break in the Weather

As the 2010 harvest inches along across Saskatchewan, many producers are counting on several straight weeks of dry and mild conditions to complete their harvest. Here in the Southwest only 20 percent of the crop has been harvested to date, well below the usual 80-100 percent of previous years.

Floyd Carefoot is a crop producer near Swift Current and says in all his years on the farm he's never seen such a steady flow of rain since April through September. Carefoot adds the harvest days are now shortened as the crops remain full of due for a good part of the morning and start getting damp in the early evening.
