SEIU-West has not had a contract for the eleven thousand health care workers they represent for over 2 years. The Provincial Budget unveiled last week had little evidence of a settlement, and now the group worries that the government is putting more effort into exploring privatization options rather than finalizing an acceptable collective agreement with SEIU-West. The group feels they haven't been offered an acceptable contract from the Government, and they will continue to negotiate.

SEIU West representatives anticipate the Provincial Government is looking to private for profit health care while at the same time over looking their much over due contract.
