Swift Current Council voted to increase sewer utility rates on a five year schedule. Effective October 1st, residents will be paying an extra 4%. This will be followed up by a 6% increase in January of 2011, and another 6% increase in 2012. The utility rate will increase by 4% in 2013, 2014 and 2015. The revenues of this increase will be used to upgrade the current water treatment facility and will also support day to day operating costs.
