On Saturday around 3:20 p.m. the Swift Current RCMP roving traffic unit stopped a Silver vehicle traveling West bound on the #1 Highway just East of Swift Current. The vehicle was stopped for a registration violation under the Saskatchewan Traffic Safety Act. As a result of the vehicle stop, RCMP were able to determine that one of the passengers was 18 year old Cody Joseph Kakeeway from Winnipeg. RCMP further discovered determined that he had an outstanding warrant for Murder, dating back to December 7th, 2011 from the Winnipeg Police Service. Swift Current RCMP advised the Winnipeg Police Service of the arrest of Kakeeway. There were two other adult Females in the vehicle at the time of the vehicle stop.

Kakeeway was remanded into custody over the weekend in Swift Current. The Winnipeg Police Service picked up the accused this morning and is en-route back to Winnipeg to face his charges in Manitoba.
